Time spent together ⛺️🔥…

Had a great weekend with my Cheer friends! So glad we could hang out.

Well, after last weekend’s focus on cycling in the MS Bike ride from London to Grand Bend, this week’s focus shifted to… more biking …I kid. We were at the trailer this weekend which was great because by my calculations it was almost two weekends ago we were last at the trailer. Make no mistake, there was biking this weekend but it was not the sole event of the weekend—just a supporting actor. I had three days of review writing this week, so I worked from home, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I pushed myself to do longer days on Tuesday and Thursday to get myself ahead with the hopes that I could wrap up early and head up to the trailer in the middle of the afternoon on Friday. And, by late afternoon on Friday I was on my way up to the trailer. By dinner time Danielle was headed up too with Emelia and her Cheer friends while I was whipping up the G2G Trail much to my delight! The weekend was upon us!

Originally this weekend was arranged to be off so that I could be in the Bluewater International Granfondo (BIG, for shirt) in Sarnia today. I was going to do the 50km ride and was super excited to be in this race raising funds for Palliative and Hospice care in Sarnia. And, one of the amazing committee of race organizers is none other than Anita & Ryan who also orchestrate the Cowbell Team I ride for in the MS Ride. So, I really wanted to support this cause and Anita & Ryan who are amazing humans. But, dumb me left registering until we were up at the trailer for a week with shitty wifi and couldn’t complete the registration process. By the team we got home and on good wifi, the 50k distance I wanted, was sold out! So, this one will have to wait to next year. The happy accident as a result of this, was it meant Danielle & I would get a whole weekend together at the trailer. And, the added bonus was that Emelia wanted to be at the trailer too—with her Cheer friends.

The other bonus this week of how my schedule panned out was that I was actually able to catch both of Emelia’s softball games! I am always blown away at how quickly she takes to sports. She is definitely athletically inclined and has a competitive spirit. Rugby this year it was amazing at how quickly she took to it, but softball has definitely been an interesting one. She originally signed up last year to finally have a sport she did with her besties the twins. We were never really certain how much she liked it, but this year she came back even though the twins didn’t. And, every time we watch her play I have to remind myself that she really has only picked up this sport only about a year and a half ago. We don’t know all the rules, she – ever the perfectionist – is hard on herself because she doesn’t know what to do at times. But, as with most anything else she jumps into, you’d never know it was a brand new sport to her. And as we approach the end of the season, she lamented this past week that she’s sad it’s almost over. Us, too Boo, us too! It’s been a delight to watch you this season.

So, yah, this weekend we got back up to the trailer for some much-needed R&R. Danielle, more than I as she’s had a crazy couple of weeks with work, life and being Mom Taxi not only for Emelia, but at times, me! The only plans this weekend were to spend as much time as we could relaxing by the fire pit and getting in bike rides on the G2G. And suffice it to say, we did that in spades! Not that we didn’t wake up earlier than we could have, the thing was there were no alarms any morning to wake up to. We could get up and take the morning at a slower pace and enjoying coffee and together-time without a schedule. Eventually we’d get kitted up and out for a bike ride and then return to the trailer for more R&R. There was plenty of laughs, plenty of fire pit time and by counts, Emelia and her Cheer friends Emma & Beth had a great time. As fare as weekends go, this one goes a long way to refill the bank even if we didn’t get enough sleep and the legs maybe a little sore from bike rides, the important theme was time spent together doing the things we love most—which if you haven’t figured out yet, is being this family we call Teeter Pod 3.

Well another crazy week in Teeter land. We had another packed week with Emelia’s sports. Two back to back softball games plus cheer practice made for a busy week. Emelia made a sudden pivot in softball this week, out of blue her throwing arm has taken off. She is suddenly able throw far distances and her catching has drastically inproved. Not sure if it is finally getting some confidence in a new sport of just having the right support from the right teammates but she is fully a softball player. Even she joked that it is finally all coming together and she is turning into one of the stronger players on the team just as the season is about to come to an end. This week they were wrapping up their regular season games as they move to practices next week preparing for the year-end tournament. This team has become so important to her and she is really loving it.

But Emelia’s content go–go—go schedule this week was only part of it, my work suddenly got crazier this week. On Monday our big boss set up a before work meeting for the directors of our division for everyone to attend. We all arrived a half an hour before most staff arrived, by the end of the meeting we found out our Director of Administration was leaving Western after 26 years to get an amazing position at the University of Guelph. This change means a ton of work will be shifting to me, I love the projects I will be working on and leading but it is going to mean work is going to be very, very busy. By the end of a crazy week I was more than ready for the weekend to arrive.

This weekend we are in the middle of a long weekend. All the stars aligned and Emelia was able to get a couple days off work so she was able to bring up a couple of her best friends through Cheer. Emelia was over the moon  that her Cheer bestie could come up for the night and day. Emma unfortunately had to be pulled out of cheer a few weeks ago due to a chronic injury. Emelia, Beth and Emma had the best time Friday and Saturday. It was once again so incredible for us as parents to really see Emelia come into her own. Emelia’s social life has blown up, not only through sports and school but now it’s growing to work. What we loved when Emelia started at the movie theatre was the fact that she got to meet even more kids her age from all different schools. She and some of the girls are starting to get really close, tonight she is going out for one of the girls birthdays. Last night through Silvercity Emelia was so excited to have a chance to spend after hours with a ton of their coworkers to do a Murder Mystery at the theatre. Emelia had blast, after hung out with friends and got home in the wee hours.

For John and I Emelia and her friends needing to be home last night meant that John and I got a rare overnight together at the trailer just us. We were up early this morning and took a slow pace until we got out on our bikes for a nice long ride before packing up and heading home. Tonight we will have a nice quiet night taking in some quiet before we head into another busy week. This weekend was all about family and friends, exactly what summer weekends should be about!
