Summer is moving fast!

I feel like I am always at work, but I did get out with my friends this weekend so it was a good week after all.

Hard to believe it but we are already at the precipice of Emelia’s second year of university. With Danielle’s help  and of course the academic counselling at Kings, Emelia has sorted out her second year courses and in a few short weeks, she starts back at it in year two! She loves her program and we’re excited to see her get deeper into her course load where the content is less survey and introduction and more in depth and focused. Both, Danielle & I found that university got so much more interesting as you got into second year and beyond. I’m sure, it will be very much the same for her.

She’s continuing to enjoy her summer but now whittled down to one job at Silver City, her schedule has opened up and she has picked up a lot more shifts which while she doesn’t always love going to work, she certainly loves to see her bank account grow. We have been so incredibly fortunate that Danielle’s benefits working at Kings help a lot with her university costs, Emelia has a hug leg up on her journey which we’re so happy to give her. It took Danielle & I years to be free from the OSAP loans and it makes us happy to know she won’t know those stresses while getting an amazing education.

With us being in town again this weekend what with our week at the trailer slated for next week, I was able to get back out with my club for the Sunday Social ride today, riding out to Belmont and back for a 59km ride that ended up being 70km because I rode to and from the start to get I some extra distance. It was another beautiful day for it, and the company was great. There were a couple of new faces to the club and it brought me back to the few years ago when I started showing up on the club rides. But, with the ride today I am at 8,712km on the year and 1,216km ahead of plan towards the goal of 12,000km on the year which feels great because I am pretty sure it’s ahead of where I was last year at this time.

This time next week we will be back up at the trailer for a week—our third, full week this summer. I haven’t stupidly booked myself into multiple cycling events crimping the week. I work to 9pm Friday and we will head immediately up to the trailer to start our week, We could go first thing Saturday morning, but why waste the sleep-in and the coffee on the deck Saturday morning over getting up early and driving up to the tailer. I am really excited for another weekend and we’re hopeful that we can get Emelia up for some time, and hopeful that we can have Zoe and Abi up for a few of the days too!

It feels like this summer has flown by. It feels like it was just a few weeks ago Emelia was wrapping up her first year and now she is only a few weeks away from starting her second year. The last few weeks we have been carrying a lot so having a week off soon is really needed. This week coming up we are really hoping that Emelia will be able to come up for a few days since we are lucky enough to have our two nieces up for a few days. Our sister in law has been going through a lot lately and as a single mom we were hoping that we could have a break over the summer. We are so excited to have all the girls up for a few days.

This week for me was a bit of quieter one, I really needed a bit of downtime so I do not have a lot to add for this week, so sorry I really do not have a ton to add. But honestly that was perfect and sometimes exactly what I need.
