More trailer time!

I had the best weekend with my friends, we went to Rock the Park and spent the weekend at the bars with all my favourite people.

Emelia’s team continues to do the early work on honing their routine for their World’s attempt this season. She’s been working with some different flyers & bases this season and a lot of the post practice reports from Emelia have been that she is really happy with how things are progressing. For now she is working with Jordyn as her flyer and things are going well for them and Emelia really appreciates the joint, work ethic of the group. It feels like we just wrapped the season and competitions and already Danielle is booking hotel and we’re planning for the comp weekends for the season! It rolls quick with Cheer!

We were able to sneak up to the trailer again this weekend after skipping over it last weekend. The weather was much more favourable and I was done work at 7pm yesterday so it meant we’d get a meaningful part of the evening around the fire pit as well as all of time we wanted today before heading back. So, as soon as I was done work, I headed home, Danielle and I packed up, got ready and even had time to drop Emelia off at her friends so they could celebrate a birthday together. By 9pm we were at the trailer, I was building a fire at the pit and Danielle was getting our supper ready. We settled in and had an amazing night at the fire pit.

Today I was able to get out for my regular ride on the G2G rail trail after waking up when our bodies decided it was time (which ironically was earlier than they should have). But, the weather was absolutely stunning—perfect for a ride in the countryside of Huron County over one of my favourite routes to ride. The whole way out I was feeling it & it was sluggish and it wasn’t until I turned around on the other side of Blyth that I was reminded that the ride out is all up and the ride back is all down, and much easier as a result. I finished up the ride, and was back to the trailer where Danielle had breakfast ready for us. We spent a few hours lazing around – Danielle even got a nap in – before we headed back to London to get ready for the work week.

The good news is as of Friday at 5pm we are on another week of vacation! The weekend will start with me doing the MS Bike: Grand Bend to London ride with Team Cowbell, while Danielle heads to the trailer for a girlie weekend with her friend Lauren. And then, Danielle & I will reconvene in London on Sunday to head back up to the trailer for our week there! This week off is book-ended with a couple of cycling events, but I am really looking forward to another week at the trailer in between with Danielle!

This was another low key week, there isn’t much going on for me other that work is really busy. Things continue to change at work and with a few leadership changes I am expanding my role and have two really amazing Associate Deans that are in my department. The last few months at work had been pretty stressful but with these new leaders in place I am so much happier and think this is going to be an incredible school year.

Speaking of school, as Emelia moves into second year we are working together to find the right courses she needs and plan her schedule as her course registration date is next week. I have access to see which courses are filling up so I can start adjusting and see which other course options she has open to fill her requirements. Emelia really got a crap registration date being the second last day, so here is hoping she doesn’t get a crap schedule for next year and is able to get into her required classes.

For the rest of the week it honestly was mainly Emelia getting the cheer, work and hanging out with her friends. Emelia had been a bit frustrated with cheer for a while because they keep bouncing around different groups and she could not seem to land in one spot. She had really clicked with one of the flyers that is new to this level and was hoping it would stick. So when she walked into practice a few weeks ago and there were a few members missing from practice she got to be matched up again with Jordyn and two strong bases (Addison and Ava) and everything started to really click. She was worried for the week that once they went back to practice this past week that it would change. When she got home from training she was all smiles, when she went into practice she went over to start working with the same stunt group. Another athlete kept asking Emelia if they were switching around and then finally the coach came over and said no we are keeping the groups the way they were and Emelia was staying put she was thrilled. The stunts were really clicking again and in fact the other group that Emelia had been swapped out of for the one week was working really well together. So all in all it seems that there is a chance that this change might stick. And Emelia could not be happier.

This week coming up will be a busy one, we will be prepping for our week up at the trailer, John’s MS bike ride, my annual girls camping trip with one of my best friends Lauren and Emelia is booked all weekend for her choeography camp. I guess she will know for sure but then which group she will be in for the season. It will be a busy week but we are only a week away from a week at the trailer and we cannot wait.
