So proud of our girl!

Finally got to spend my first St. Pat’s as a university student and it was amazing!

Emelia continues to knock her first year of university out of the park. This week she had presentations to do in front of the whole class, and then a paper. And with every measure of her university success – in her marks – comes in, she gets better marks than I ever did. But, she also shares a huge sense of pride in what she is accomplishing. The presentation was on Monday, and by Thursday she got the mark back in her class which she proudly texted us (84%) the second she heard in class. We are so beyond proud of her and how she has adjusted to this next level of her education journey, but also in the focus and attention to doing well she has for herself.

This week while there has been some more moments of winter, I have continued to get more rides outside as opposed to inside on trainer which has been quite delightful. This past week I was actually even able to get out for a ride in my short bibs—it was that warm! But, being able to get outside for rides while amazing for my soul I have also learned is actually a harder workout despite riding the same distance virtually (35km) as the distance I do outside. This week I have been dealing with the aches of muscles being used a little more and the amount of calories burned validate that the same distance outside burns more than twice the calories. So formal reasons, but this most importantly, it is so good to be back riding outside.

Danielle & I have really started to finalize our plans for the Worlds trip because we know that it is going to come up in a hurry and before we know it, it will be here! We have our rental vehicle sorted—a Jeep! We still need to add on the day to the end for our hotel and also I need to get my bike rental sorted out for down there. (Yes! I will be trying to get in at least one outdoor ride while we are down there.) And, then Danielle & I need to sort out when and how many parks we’re doing to but a lot of that hinges on the schedule for Worlds and when Emelia competes. But, suffice it to say, each week it gets a whole lot more real. Especially in our bank account.

Last night Emelia got to blow off some steam and go to a St Patrick’s Day themed frat party with her besties. The girls collected and got ready at our house and then Danielle dropped them off at the frat in all the St Patrick’s Day regalia. We were the back up in case something failed with Uber for their ride home. But they had a good time and by the wee hour of 3:00am they were home and ready to hit the sheets. And so were we!! We’re so happy to see the girls have a great time and to continue to see Emelia become a responsible young adult but still find time to have the fun that she’s earned.

This past week was another busy one for Emelia in school. She had a presentation in the one class this term that is a whole new subject for her. She has finally started to get her head around the new subject and put together a great group presentation. She felt good about the presentation together but was still nervous about how it would go and how she could handle some tough questions from her classmates in a subject she is still not comfortable talking about. She left class on Monday and messaged us right away that it went really well. Happy a few days later she had her mark back, a very respectable 84%!!! We were so beyond proud of her and all that she has accomplished this year.

Another focus for Emelia this week was cheer, her team is prepping for Nationals and World’s so one of the other seasoned coaches came in and worked with the girls on levelled up skills. It was amazing to see how fast they were embracing and excelling at these new elevated skills. It was great to see so many happy and confident faces on the athletes and to see what they have accomplished this year. Even with all their frustrations we need to remind them that all of these athletes are new to level 6, most have moved up at least 3 levels in just a year. And to see them pull off elite levelled skills has made all of so incredibly proud. World’s in Florida is coming up fast and we cannot wait to see Emelia live her dream of competing on the World’s stage.

Finally for Emelia this week she was able to celebrate one of her favourite weekends, S. Pat’s. As a university student this is the epic party weekend. Emelia and her best friends all went out on Saturday night. The girls were dressed in their St. Pat’s best and off the first celebration of their week, a frat party. The girls had the best time, they partied until after 3:00 in the morning The night was full of funny stories and great memories. Emelia cannot wait until tomorrow night for round 2 of their frat party celebration, this time even more of her friends will be going out with them. We are so grateful for the group of friends Emelia has stayed with since high school. These girls bring Emelia so much love and bring her out of her shell and challenge her to be her best person. We love them all.
