\"\"<\/a>I had an exciting two weeks, I got to see my cousin get married, finally officially finished my first year of university, got to hang out with my friends a ton AND I found out today I made the World’s team again at cheer!<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>He said<\/h1>\n

As an absolute first, we didn’t have a post last week<\/strong><\/em> and I did not realize that until just now, when starting this week’s entry. In our defence last week was the Victoria Day long weekend so it would have come on the Monday, but about the time we would have started thinking about the post, we had a tree come down three doors down from our house and take out the power on our block for three house. We’d had a whirlwind weekend of our niece Amy’s wedding on the Friday, I worked Sunday and then as soon as we were done work we got up to the trailer for the very first night of the season to stay over to the Monday. Dealing with the power outage put us right back into the shortened week and it was now before I realized we never got back to here.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>It is now officially, official\u2014we are back in the thick of World’s Bids-ing on Valiant. Yes, Emelia will once again, do another year of Cheer, her second as a Vali Girl<\/em>! Very different than last year was the tryout process. Where Emelia was placed on a different team to start, and then added in a supplemental tryout and she never expected to make the World’s team, this year the girls from last year were pulled aside and told that they were building the team around them as the core, the girls that were returning. They only lost 2 girls, so they suspected and hoped they were building a bigger squad. As a result for Emelia, the tryout process was\u00a0way<\/strong> less stressful and up-in-the-air compared to last year. And tonight the offer officially came through and the good news is the team is bigger by 6 more girls which likely means they will go from 4 stunt groups to 6!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Honestly I am very happy she is in it for another year because we had such a great experience at the Cheerleading Worlds. No, Florida isn’t exactly the first place we would pick for a vacation, but if we have to go somewhere, and it happens to include Disney World as part of the package it was a no brainer. And, within minutes of returning from Florida, we already had some ‘do differently’s<\/em>‘ and some ‘do the same’s<\/em>‘ if we were to do it all again. Most notably, we would stay at the same location as it was perfect. And we would go down with the same day ahead arrive early and day after departure as that gave us plenty of time and breather around World’s. At any rate, we have to qualify first, but we’re over the moon to be Cheer parents another year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The other thing we have not talked about much (or at all) is the trailer. Usually a lot of the spring posts are counting down to the May 1st when the park opens and us planning on being there the first second we can on order to open up for the season. May 1st came and went and we were not there. To be honest the weather wasn’t that great so we weren’t really that chuffed we didn’t get up there. And honestly, we were just so busy anyway. Coming out of Worlds we went into the wrap-up of Emelia’s first year of university and the exams that had to be delayed because of Worlds. And then, we also had Amy & Mykola’s wedding last weekend too. So, it wasn’t until last weekend that we got up there for our very first time to open the trailer. The good news is we were up there again last night and today and will be there again Friday and Saturday this week. So while the season start is late, we will have already been there three weekends in a row by next weekend and have three weeks of vacation planned there for this summer!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Now, for Amy’s wedding\u2026 what a beautiful day! It was hard because the Teeter side is down 4 very important family members that would have wanted nothing more than to be there\u2014most notably Amy’s mother Linda who we lost to cancer in 2019. As a result of that and because Danielle has been through the same loss, Amy & Danielle have always had a special bond. But, also as the second girl grandkid in the family, Emelia and Amy have also had a special bond too. Amy did a great job of including the both of them in very special ways that meant a lot to Danielle & Emelia, and the day could not have been any more perfect. Sure we were missing Linda, Mom, Dad & Greg on this day, but we could definitely feel their presence there in all of us.<\/p>\n

So while we did miss a deadline last week, I hope you can appreciate it was with reason and that while we may have been absent in posting we weren’t absent in the memories we created!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>She said<\/h1>\n

Another two crazy weeks in our lives. As John mentioned last week we had full plans to do the blog but as we were about to start there was a sudden crash and the power went out. That resulted in over three hours without power, by the time we got power back on the Montreal Canadiens were going into overtime and we were inside watching the game. Once the game was over we were exhausted and crashed for the night. It wasn’t until much later in the week did I realize we had not done the post, so here we are.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The first week was a very busy one, Emelia was writing her make up exam for the exam she missed due to World’s and then we had to get ready for the big day, Amy’s wedding. Amy and Emelia have always been very close, they share a strong bond and Emelia and I were touched that Amy included us so much in her wedding. Amy wanted Emelia to come with her to get their hair and makeup done the day of the wedding. This meant a really early start so we opted to stay down for the extra day in the hotel. The whole day was perfect, Emelia and I were also part of her pre-wedding events including helping her get dressed in her dress. I cannot stress how much this meant to both Emelia and I. Amy as always been extra special to me, she was my first niece and when Linda got sick and lost her battle with cancer meant that Amy shared one thing I wish we didn’t, we both lost our moms at a young age. So Amy including me as the stand in at times where her mom would normally be touched me so much. The whole day was magical, the venue was perfect, the bride was beautiful and finally as a family we gathered for pure joy and not from loss. This time all the tears were happy tears.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>One we finally got home from St. Catharine’s John and I had to shift focus quickly. Since the last few weeks have been so busy for our family we still had not been up to open the trailer yet. So we packed overnight bags, some food and supplies and headed to the trailer once John was done work on Sunday. We were able to unpack and set up a good chunk of the site and started work on the mountain of leaves that had fallen on our full treed site. It was a lot of work but we got most of it done, last night we popped up for another trip and got the rest of the set up done. So we can really sit back and enjoy our next trip up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>To add to all the madness of the last few weeks Emelia also had cheer assessment\/tryouts. Once she decided that she was going back to cheer for another year she has been focused on getting ready for the season. Unlike last year we already knew what team would be on the for this coming season. When the athletes went in for tryouts the coaches pulled them aside and a team to let them know that they were building the team based on the foundation of last years team, and with 15 of the 17 athletes returning they had a strong foundation to build off of. Today the team reveals came out today and Emelia is getting to know her new team, the team has grown since last year and they are now 6 stunt groups vs 4 and there are some really strong new athletes joining them.
