This week has been crazy but this weekend was worth all the chaos. I got to spend the entire weekend with my favourite cheer friends at World’s bootcamp weekend.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>He said<\/h1>\n

What seemed like was eons away, we are now just a couple of days off from heading to the IASF Worlds for Cheer<\/a>. Hard to believe that this dream that was a goal from day one since she moved to competitive Cheer six years ago, is both a reality and we’re on the doorstep of going to. And it has gotten a lot more real as practices this week ramped up, we’ve actually starting organize and start to pack. And, most importantly Emelia is getting more and more excited. But, we leave Tuesday and it feels like there are a million things to still get done. I am sure it will all get done, but it will be a bit of a mad dash.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>And if that wasn’t enough on our plate, this week was the start of Emelia’s first year exams which are going well, but it certainly was added stress for her. On Friday she wrote her third exam of the week and then headed directly off to Worlds Camp which started Friday, and went all through the weekend. They had their choreographer who built their routine in to work with ValiaNT to shore up their routine ahead of the comp and make sure they were ready to put on their best performance.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The culminated today with the Worlds Send-Off where both Worlds teams for CheerStrike got to showcase all the work they had put in this weekend for their routine and perform it for family, friends and gym peers before heading off to Florida this week to represent the gym. The highlight to all of that was they were given all their Worlds swag that they will wear throughout the next week. The girls were all chomping at the bit to get it and they held off to the very end of the camp, much to their impatience. But, Emelia bolted through the door and proudly showed off all of her stuff. She was blown away\u2026 hell, we were blown away. It made it all seem a lot more real and made us even more excited.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Today before that send-off, I was able to get out for another club ride with LCC<\/a> after missing last week’s ride. It was a 50km ride out to Komoka and it was great to see the amount of turnout for it. Initially it was touch and go as to whether I was going to be done in time to make the World’s send-off, and then as the ride took a little longer as there was one guy who had a couple of mechanicals I messaged Danielle to say she should head over without me as we were running late. But, as I figured out our return to the city brought us right by the gym, I called the audible and let the club know I was going to peace-out<\/em> and bike to the gym to watch the send-off which I am so happy I did.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I’ve got another couple of bike rides in London tomorrow and Tuesday morning before we’re off. And I am excited to see the weather forecasted for our week in Florida\u2014it looks like it’s going to beautiful and dry every single day. I have a bike rented for the first couple of days, but something tells me I might try and extend to the week if I can find a way to fit the rides in our already quite busy schedule. Either way, we’re all getting pretty dang excited!<\/p>\n

This week has been absolutely bananas for Emelia. She has had three exams this past week another another one tomorrow. She has been burning it at all ends just to get through the week that led into this weekend. For 6 years Emelia has trained with all her passion and drive to arrive at this goal. To make a World’s team to get a chance to cheer at World’s. Her team has put in all the effort and extra practices to execute a fully level 6 routine worthy of a World’s bid. They have worked so hard, putting in all the extra work and we could not be more proud.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>After a crazy busy week that included an afternoon exam Emelia was off to the gym Friday night. The worked hard, trained hard and had an extra coach come in to clean things up and work on parts of the routine that they needed cleaning up. Brian was their choepographer and has come in a few times over the season to really elevate their routine. The highlight for Emelia and the team was the sharing, each of the athletes talked about what they were proud of and what made them love cheer. There wasn’t a dry eye in the group. It was 2 hours of bonding and sharing. Emelia told us her share was that in cheer she found a place where she was truly accepted, that she never felt like she could really be herself and be accepted in her prior sports, but in cheer she could be her authentic self and be accepted for who she is. Cheer has given her everything, it was her safe space in covid, it was her safe place when she was in a very dark place, it was her safe place when she navigated horrible losses in our family. Cheer was always there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Emelia has made such incredible friends over the years and today really showed it. When they announced the World’s teams send off we got messages instantly from one of her best friends she met at cheer, Emma was her person for years at cheer up until Emma had to quit due to back issues. Emma and Emelia have been close still even all these years later. We were able to pull off a huge surprise and sneak her in to cheer Emelia on. In addition I reached out to Emelia’s best friend Bri’s mom and asked if she could ask the core group of friends might be able to surprise her as well. So there to cheer Emelia on was Emma, Michelle, Bri, Adrianna, as well had Matthew and Shawn. For all of Emelia’s friends outside of Emma they have never seen her cheer. Emma of course hasn’t seen Emelia cheer since she was level 3 so watching her execute a level 6 routine blew them all away. There were lots of happy emotions as the girls performed in front of all their biggest supporters. Emelia was overwhelmed by the support. And even a few moments ago her other best friends Ashley and Belle just left as they came over to bring her flowers and tell her how proud they were of her.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>So in 2 days we fly out to Disney to see our girl and her cheer team take on the biggest stage of cheer, we are all beyond excited and to see your child achieve their dream is something we have dreamed of forever. Thank you cheer for giving our daughter a safe place when she needed it, a place she can be her true self and where she has made the best of friends and pushed herself far out of her comfort zone. This time next week Emelia will have performed at Disney and we cannot wait to share with everyone that experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
