Allegiance! Season ten!

Today I found out that I am going to be on the same team with almost all my cheer friends again for cheer. Cannot wait for Season 10!!! Go Allegiance!

Well… the theme to this weekend really was, where would Emelia be placed for next season of Cheer as today was the day we found out where the placements would be. She had her heart set on moving up a team to Nobility and that was really all she was hoping for. But, with making a significant connection with a few of the members of her team – including her bestie Olivia – we knew that a lot of her perspective on where she landed team-wise would eventually come down to who was on the team as well. So this weekend was all about waiting for that email to come in some time today. And being able to ride the wave of impatience that would accompany.

With it being a long weekend in Canada, Danielle & Emelia were off to the trailer the second work and school wrapped up for them onFriday. I, on the other hand, after having last weekend off for her comp in Ottawa, was working the whole weekend. They got up to the trailer Friday night, and I was working until Sunday, but made the same beeline up here the second I was done work. It sounded like they were having a great weekend, and by the time I arrived a couple of Emelia and Olivia’s Cheer team/friends were already up at the trailer to spend the afternoon with us. We had dinner together and while the girls spent time together round the campground, the parents enjoyed laughs around the campfire. It was a perfect day for us all!

This morning I finally got to give my new GT bike the run of the G2G trail which I had been waiting to do ever since picking it up last Friday. And what a joy that was! Despite not remembering to turn off my 5:45am alarm from yesterday morning for work, I was able to get back to sleep and milk a sleep-in to 9:00am. Then, it was up, get dressed and out on the bike! I did the regular route from the trailer, up the highway, and then on the G2G all the way to Blyth and back. The bike was perfect for the ride, I was able to fly in the spots where I should fly… but it was also comfortable as all get-out which was also important for the inaugural ride.

Now to today, the day Emelia was waiting for. She was intently hoping to be moved up to the next team up and that was where her heart was as we waited for the email to come in. The trouble is a lot of her movement might be complicated because she has become very close friends with a few of the kids on the team and so movement might mean moving away from kids she has grown close to. Despite all that she wanted to move up. While that would have been great for her to experience, the reality is, it would ultimately would come up to the coaches’ and their perspective. And in the end, she was selected to be on Allegiance again next season. And while initially not the news she wanted, she got to a place where she was very excited to return with good friends to be back with a team and peers she knows,

I am at the trailer now with Danielle & Emelia at the house. They’re done their weekend and I am just beginning mine really – off to Wednesday before I am back to work Thursday. So while it sucks that the time isn’t together, I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to a few days of quiet and solace at the trailer. I will work a bit on getting an awning built for the outdoor kitchen. And I will work on riding my bike as much as I can on the G2G Rail Trail too! It should be a great couple of days to recharge!

This weekend was exactly what we needed. This past week was insanely busy. After returning from Emelia’s last competition very late Sunday we were already moving fast into another sport. A few weeks ago Emelia had asked if she could join her best friends and some other friends playing softball for the summer. Once we got through the end of competition season we signed Emelia up and quickly got her set up. I spent Monday messaging with her new coaches and the league organizers to get a list of what I had to pick up and order before she started playing last week.

Monday night Emelia and I went to get her uniform sized up, a pair of cleats and her glove. She started games and practices this week. She is already loving it, even more she loves that she and John can practice together so she can get up to speed.

Tuesday was our last full time together with Emelia’s team from what is now last season. This group had become so close and some of the parents have really connected and we can see that we have found another group of incredible parents to hang out. The kids had their team awards, presentation of their season banner as well as a bit of a party for the kids. We got lots of pictures of the kids together and then the group of the close friends and parents went out for dinner and drinks. It was a bitter-sweet night. With team placements for the next season coming soon they all knew that this would be the last time this group would be together as a team. Even sadder for Emelia is that one of her close friends on the team will not be back. Now thankfully we have become friends outside of cheer so the girls can stay connected.

The rest of the week was all about running her to ball practice and getting ready for the long weekend. Before I knew it it was Thursday night and I was running all over the city to get our supplies for the weekend while Emelia was at practice. Friday I was able to head out of town with Emelia as soon as I was done work and head to the trailer for the weekend. Emelia and I took up our new canoe and all the supplies for the weekend. Sadly John had to work most of the weekend. By dinner Emelia and I were up at the trailer having a great time with the Sherwoods around the fire.

Saturday we had a few errands to do and get more things set up for the season around camp. It was a nice lazy start of the day. We headed back to the trailer just as the rain was starting and settled in with a movie while we waited for the storm to pass. Speaking of the storm. There was an insane storm that hit our entire area, in fact a big part of the province on Saturday. The path of the storm was over 1000KM in length when it finally lessened doing millions in damage. We were very fortunate to come out unscathed either at the trailer or at home. Steph and Justin have some damage to deal with but minor thank goodness. The photos and videos posted were terrifying and we are forever grateful we were spared.

Sunday for us was an extra special day. We had invited our cheer friends up a few days ago and happily they were able to come up, not only did the girls get to hang out but the parents got to share a lot of laughs and some great food. I love through sports that we have forged these incredible friendships. And after placement announcements today most of Emelia’s closest friends from cheer will be on the same team next season! It was a win-win for all of us.

Today we had to pack up and head home. John will be staying at camp as he has a few more days off to relax, recharge and get a few projects done around the trailer. It was a great weekend all in all. Spent lots of time outside around the fire with amazing friends What more could we ask for???
