Happy Anniversary!

I had so much fun this weekend!

I am happy to report this week that Emelia’s elbow is doing much better. She spent the better part of Monday and Tuesday in the sling and icing it, but, by the time Tuesday evening rolled around she wanted to go to Cheer and when we picked her up she wasn’t wearing the sling. When we asked her about it, she said it was feeling good enough and she didn’t just want to sit and do nothing. Typical Emelia answer, but through the week, the range of motion gradually came back and the pain went away. And by the weekend her elbow was back to normal.

This weekend was all about Danielle and I celebrating our anniversary. And where did we want to do that? In our happy place at Auburn, at the trailer. I was off work Friday afternoon for the weekend and that gave me time to get the truck loaded, pickup Emelia from school and get a few other errands done so that by the time Danielle got home from work, we were off to the trailer. We were sitting in the camp chairs at the fire pit by 7:35pm unwinding fully. And the forecast for the weekend was stellar. Blue skies, 26ºC temps, and no rain all weekend.

Saturday was our anniversary. We have been together for 33 years and married for 22 of them, to the day. Our plan was to enjoy the day relaxing and doing all the things we love to do at the trailer. Of course, I got a bike ride in, and then we had our usual eggs & bacon camp breakfast. But then we spent the rest of the day laughing and having fun with the Sherwoods. The campground had their Halloween scheduled for the day so there was a Scavenger Hunt, Halloween Parade, and Trick Or Treating going on, so we had our site decorated and gave out candy to the trick-or-treaters as they came by. Emelia and Olivia even dressed up for night.

With Emelia and Olivia having Cheer practice on Sundays, we usually get up a little later, but not a full-on sleep in, because we do need to be on the road home by noon to get them to Cheer on time. I slipped in another ride on the G2G and shortly after getting my breakfast, we were packing up and heading back home. Off they were to Cheer, and off we were to get the usual run of Sunday-things done like groceries. It was a great weekend, and was the perfect way to celebrate the slice of life that Danielle & I have managed to carve out together!

We couldnt have found a better way to celebrate our anniversary. The same way we have for years, at our trailer and around the fire under the stars.

The weekend was perfect. Emelia and Olivia were off most of the weekend enjoying all the fun activities the trailer park had lined up. The girls planned and had costumes for the day. They spent the better part of the early morning in our trailer watching horror movies and getting their costume make up on. They started out wanting to go trick or treating but changed their mind thinking they were too old so they had fun handing out the candy to all the trick or treaters. It was a blast, there were close to 200 kids collecting candy and giggling their way through the park.

The girls were so excited for the last activity of the night, the haunted night walk. They loved it so much they did it at least 5 times. I took them through their first time but they were happy to do it again just the two of them. It was super cute watching Liv nudge close to Emelia the first time through and them going off to giggle their way through the entire spooky event. The weekend was exactly how we wanted it, celebrating with friends and family. Happy Anniversary John, my forever high school sweetheart!
